Alan
Murray Leaman
84, of Bridgewater,
passed away May 7, 2001 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Gordon and Janet (Murray)
Leaman. He was a veteran of the second World War, serving overseas in
France with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He was a member of the
Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24, Bridgewater. He was a past member
of both the Bridgewater Kinsman Club and the Bridgewater Curling Club.
He owned an operated Leaman’s Shoe Store on King Street, Bridgewater,
for 50 years until retiring in 1985. He is survived by his wife, the
former Bessie Gilliat, daughters Janet (Robert) Wrye, Wolfville; Ann
(Bruce) Cassidy, Grand Prairie, Alberta; three granddaughters Kathleen,
Lori, and Sarah; a brother Keir Leaman, Riverview, NB; two neices and
a nephew. He was predeceased by his first wife, Muriel Kathleen Mader.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home be request. Funeral
service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel,
Bridgewater, with Rev. James Slack Jr. officiating, assisted by Rev.
Albert Marshall. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers
only. Memorial donations may be made to the V.O.N. or to the Red Cross.
