Annetta MacKenzie
“Aunt
Sadie”, Bridgewater, passed away June 17, 2001 in the South Shore
Regional Hospital, Bridgewater .Born July 24, 1903, in Hemford, she
was a daughter of the late George Edward and Annetta (Crouse) Smith.
She was predeceased by her 1st husband Theordore Bley, 2nd husband Howard
MacKenzie; sisters Abia Silver, Cecila Joudrey, Ella Horton, Rachael
Veinot and Flora Crouse; brothers Edward, Ishmael, Roland, Horton and
Melford. Sadie was lovingly cared for by Sharon Spidle, Blair Wentzell
and her niece Dorothy Veinot. She leaves to mourn daughter Carol
( Ralph ) Pettapiece; grandsons Dean and Raymond, all of Ottawa and
many neices and nephews. Her early years were spent working in Detroit
and New York, she later returned to Nova Scotia where she and her husband
Theodore operated Molega Lodge. She later went to Vancouver to work
and then returned to Nova Scotia and remained in her home on King St.,
Bridgewater until her recent illness. Visitation will be held today
from 2 to 4pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater and from where
funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday , Rev. Ivan Norton officiating.
Private burial will follow in the Hemford Cemetery. Donations in Aunt
Sadie’s memory may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital
Foundation, Bridgewater or the charity of your choice.
