Albert Munn

77, of Cookville, Lunenburg County, passed away May 1, 2001 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater .  Born on August 23, 1923 in Liverpool, England, he was a son of the late Alexander and Mary (Brown) Munn of Tatamagouche, Colchester County, N.S. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving as a corporal with the Regiment Rease from September 1941 to February 1946. He received his service medals, 1939 – 45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Can Vol Service Medal and Clasp. He was employed over the years with the Bridgewater Lumber Co. in Cookville as a yard foreman and he retired from the company. He was a member of the Bridgewater United Baptist Church; was president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 24, Bridgewater, in 1959, as well as Sergeant at Arms and involved in the Poppy Fund. He received a plaque for appreciation of services from the Lions Club. He was an active member of the MicMac Rod and Gun Club in Wentzells Lake. He was a sportsman at heart who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Verna (Conrad); sons, Arthur and Robert, both of Edmonton, Alberta; a daughter Linda Ramey, Martins Pt. Rd., Lunenburg County; brothers, Carl, Tatamagouche; Frank, Blaine, Washington; a sister Doris Gillis, Edmonton, Alberta; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Carol Ann Munn; a brother Arthur and a sister Mae Pierce. Visitation will be held Friday from 7 to 8pm with a public legion tribute service being held at 7pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. A memorial service will be held 2pm Monday in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Rev. Dr. Thom Harvey officiating. A reception will follow in the Royal Canadian Legion, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 24 or the Canadian Cancer Society.
