Dorothy
Ann (Brown) O'Neil
74, of Pleasantville, Lunenburg County, passed away March 17, 2001 in
the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was the daughter
of the late Thomas E. Brown and Hildred (Macleod) Brown. Educated at
Edgehill School Windsor and Mt. Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick,
she enjoyed and supported Fine Arts. Widow of the late David Bertram
O’Neil, she was chairperson of the Board of “Crouse &
Choat Co Ltd” with which her sons David and Thomas shared ownership
and managed since her husbands death. She served as President of the
Bridgewater Curling Club and was a member of the Bridgewater Golf Club.
An honorary member of the South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation where
she served as the Chair of the Publicity committee during the hospital
fund raising campaign. In memory of her husband Bert, she and her daughter
Terry were instrumental in bringing the Palliative Care program to the
Bridgewater Hospital. As a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater,
she served on the Alter Guild and had an abiding interest in the churches
welfare. She is survived by her sons David O’Neil, Halifax; Thomas
O’Neil, Conquerall Bank, Lunenburg County; daughters Terry Ann
O’Neil (Mrs. Greg Rafuse), Pleasantville, Lunenburg County and
Kathleen Mary (Mrs. John Vissers) Newcombville, Lunenburg County; eleven
grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be
held at 11am, Thursday, March 22, 2001 in the Holy Trinity Anglican
Church, Bridgewater, Archdeacon John Clarke officiating. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church,
Bridgewater or any charity would be greatly accepted. There will be
no visitation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral
Home, Bridgewater.
