Robert
(Bob) Allen Robar
80, of Dayspring,
Lunenburg County, passed away March 23, 2001 in the Q E II Health Sciences
Center, Halifax. Born in Dayspring, he was a son of the late Banford
and Phoebe ( Slauenwhite ) Robar. After working for a number of years
in shipbuilding in Montreal and Mahone Bay, he was employed as a draftsman
and estimator at Brady’s Woodworking, and subsequently at Nauss
Bros. Ltd. , both in Bridgewater. His church and community involvement
have included faithful worship at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Chairmanship
of the Dayspring Cemetery Committee, and contributions toward the development
of the Dayspring and District Fire Department. He was also a member
of a large number of fraternal organizations. Bob was a 33rd Degree
Scottish Rite Mason, and a member Charity Lodge # 69, Mahone Bay. His
contributions to the Masonic Lodge have included the office of secretary
for many years, membership of the Board of Directors for the Masonic
Retirement Home in Windsor, N.S., as well as the writing of a comprehensive
history of Charity Lodge. He served as local District Deputy Grand Master
between 1973 and 1982. He is survived by 2 daughters, Evelyn (Calvin)
Keddy, Berwick West; Frances Robar, at home; 3 grandchildren, Bruce,
Jennifer and Andrea. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Eileen
Bushen; brothers, Arthur, Maurice; a sister in infancy. Visitation will
be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, with an Eastern Star and Masonic
services commencing at 7pm, all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday in Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church,
Upper LaHave, Rev. Paul Jensen officiating. Burial will follow in the
Dayspring Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made
to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church or any charity.
