Basil Oickle
77, of Upper Northfield, Lunenburg County, passed away February 20,
2002 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Upper
Northfield, he was the son of the late Hubert and Alma (Veinot) Oickle.
He was a member of the Upper Northfield United Church; a life member
of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, Bridgewater; a member of the
MicMac Rod and Gun Club in Wentzell’s Lake; one of the founding
members of the LaHave River Ramblers Square Dancing Club. He is survived
by his 2 daughters, Mary Ellen, Mrs. Wayne Zinck, Brenda, Mrs. James
Fancy, both of Upper Northfield; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren;
a sister, Hope (Lincoln) Lohnes, Upper Northfield. He was predeceased
by his wife, Shirley (Mossman); daughter, Marilyn Woodworth. Visitation
will be 7 to 9pm Friday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater,
with a public legion tribute service being held at 7pm. Funeral service
will be held 11am Saturday in the Upper Northfield United Church, Upper
Northfield, Lt. Don McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in the
Hillside Cemetery, Upper Northfield. Family flowers only. Memorial donations
may be made to the N. S. Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Upper Northfield
