Herbert "Bert" William Edwin Cooper
With great sadness the Cooper family announces the peaceful passing
on 10 November 2003 of Herbert “Bert” William Edwin Cooper
age 78 of LaHave. Born in Western Bay, Nfld. Bert was an avid woodworker
with a great passion for the sea. He was a longtime employee of Marine
Atlantic PEI Service. Bert spent most of his working life in PEI. He
is survived by his wife May (Gillam) and sister Leone (Kenneth) Dolloff,
Methuen, Mass. Sons, Ronald (Pat) Cooper, Summerside, PEI; Tom (Arlene)
Cooper, Naples, Fla. Daughters Pat (Brian) Emdin, Edmonton, Alb; Linda
(Stuart) Affleck, Bedeque, PEI; Josie (Derill) Campbell, Halifax. Niece,
Laurel (John) Pittera; Salem, NH, nephew Westley (Denise) Dolloff, Windham,
NH. Grandchildren, Brian, Pamela, Ian, Adam, Sarah, Rachel, Jayne, Jasun,
Jeffrey, Shauna; stepsons, Peter (Karyn) Coolen, Vancouver; Doug (Karen)
Coolen, Calgary; Chris and Greg Coolen, Halifax; stepdaughters, Heather
Nazar, St. Catherines, Ont., Sandra (Jim) MacDonald, Halifax and seven
step-grandchildren. Bert is predeceased by his parents James Herbert
and Olive (King) Cooper, his first wife Gertrude (White) Cooper and
two infant brothers. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Thursday in Sweeny’s
Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday in West Side United
Church, Pentz. Rev. Sally McShane officiating. Donations in Bert’s
memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart or Stroke Foundation
