John Allison Berry
69, of Bridgewater
passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 23, 2004,
after a courageous battle with cancer. Born
June 8, 1935, in Moncton, NB, John was one of nine children of the late
Harry and Bernice Berry. He was currently employed with Nauss Brothers
Ltd., where he enjoyed great relationships with all his customers over
the past 22 years. Over the years, John was a very accomplished businessman
who was employed by Royal Bank of Canada, Manager of Niagara Finance,
Manager of Bank of Nova Scotia, Owner/Operator of Host Rent-a-Car, developed
and operated Dufferin House, Bridgewater, Allied Collection Agency and
Manager of Credit Union. Over the years, his community activities included
President of the Chamber of Commerce, Bridgewater Swimming Pool opening,
various fundraising activities for Red Cross and Bridgewater Baptist
Church. He was an ardent fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple
Leafs where he spent many nights in front of the TV with a handful of
peanuts. His ultimate passion was his children and grandchildren always
putting them first. His sense of humour kept us all laughing right to
the end. Surviving are his first wife and friend Lorraine Richardson,
Bridgewater; children, Jeffrey (Lisa), Wichita, Kansas; Cheryl (Rev.
Corey) Pickens, Parkhill, Ontario; Lynda (Larry) Vidito, Calgary, Alberta;
Tanya (Deryck) Bolivar, Hebbville; Matthew, Halifax; Michael, Bridgewater;
grandchildren, Benjamin and Joshua Berry, Christianna, Justin and Caitlyn
Pickens, Isayah and Jonah Vidito and Drew Bolivar; siblings, Lois (
Dr. Phil) Collins, Delta, BC; Dr. Robert (Grace), Grand Bay, NB; Dale
(Shirley), Moncton, NB, Gerald (Jan), Seattle, Washington, Janet, Vancouver,
BC; Rev. Duane (Sandy), Calgary, Alberta; David (Kathie), Fredericton,
NB; Albert (Arlene) Clearbrook, BC; many nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his second wife Joan Audrey (Nauss). Funeral 2 p.m. Monday,
September 27 in Pleasantville Baptist Church, where he was a member.
Private family burial will be in the Pleasantville Cemetery. No visitation
at the funeral home by request. Family flowers only. Memorial donations
may be made to Pleasantville Baptist Church or Canadian Cancer Society.
