William Jennett Henry
It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Henry, 85, of LaHave,
announces his passing on Wednesday, February 11, in the South Shore
Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Halifax on March
5, 1918, he was the last surviving child of Henry and Annie (Powers)
Henry of Halifax. Bill was the loving and devoted husband of the late
Elsie Margaret (Hayward) Henry, beloved father of Joanne Elizabeth and
her husband Gerald Roy of LaHave, and cherished grandfather of Sara
Aimee and Sean William. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie; five
brothers, John, Harry, Bert, Robert, Charles; and two sisters, Nora
(Fordham), Eileen (Ball). He was a Second World War veteran who served
overseas in England, Holland and Belgium. He was a native of Halifax
who was employed by Teleglobe Canada for 39 years and retired to LaHave
28 years ago. Bill was a quiet man with gentle humor and great integrity
who was liked by all who knew him. Memorial service will be 11 a.m.,
Monday in West Side United Church, Pentz. Rev. Sally McShane officiating.
Interment will be at a later date. A reception will follow the service
in the church fellowship hall. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s
Funeral Home, Bridgewater. No visitation at the funeral home by request.
