Homer Ray Varner
81,
of Stanburne, Lunenburg Co., passed away Tuesday August 10, 2004 at
South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Stanburne he was
a son of the late Kenneth and Ida (Veinotte) Varner. He was a veteran
of World War Two having served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He
loved working with wood, playing the fiddle and entertaining his friends
with “Rastus” the dancing man. He also had a fondness for
gardening. He is survived by his wife the former Marjorie Baker; sons,
Francis (Jane) and Laurie (Julie), both of Barss Corner; daughter Darlene
Tufts, New Germany; grandchildren, Jordan, Reannyn, Jolene, Elaina,
James, Jonathan, Thomas; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased
by two sons, Matthew and Ralph; brother Maurice; sisters Cora Varner
and Lydia Nickerson. Visitation will be Thursday 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s
Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral service 11am Friday
in the Barss Corner United Baptist Church, Rev Norman Hovland officiating.
Burial will follow in the Barss Corner Community Cemetery. Flowers accepted.
