Dorothy Virginia Veinott

91, of Bridgewater, passed away June 16, 2004 in the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Pleasantville, she was a daughter of the late John and Selena (Rafuse) Richards. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In earlier year her family moved to Worcester, Mass., where she attended elementary school. Returning back to Nova Scotia, she finished her education in Pleasantville school. After graduating, she went to work at the former Ashkins Ladies wear in Bridgewater as a sales lady. She married Ray Veinott in 1936. She was a member of the Bridgewater United Baptist Church; past matron of Mae Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, receiving her 50 year jewel in 2001; member of the Past Matrons Club; honorary member of former Bridgewater Lionettes club where she served as secretary for several years. She was an ardent bridge player and was a member of a bridge club for over 30 years. She had a great love for animals. She is survived by her daughter, Sherri MacDonald (Gary Horsman), Halifax; granddaughters, Shelly MacDonald, Montreal; Joanne (David) Treen, Truro; Christy MacDonald, Toronto; Karen (Brian) Habib, Halifax; great granddaughters, Teresa and Robyn Treen, Truro. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray; a son and daughter in infancy; sisters, Edith, Muriel, Elsie, Garnet, 2 sisters in infancy; brothers, Clifford and Warren.Visitation will be held Friday from 7 to 9pm with an Eastern Star service being held at 6:30 pm all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home 1:30pm Saturday, Rev Penny Klepic officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bridgewater United Baptist Church, Salvation Army or Shaid Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be sent to sweenys@ns.sympatico.ca.
