Lucienne May Himmelman (Byers)
89
of Halifax and Pentz passed away on Friday, October 6, 2006. Born in
the town of Lunenburg, she was the eldest of four children of Willis
and Winnie Byers. A graduate of Lunenburg Academy, Lou moved to Halifax
as a young woman. She held several administrative positions during her
professional career. An accomplished musician, for many years she was
an organist in the Lutheran Church. A social person with a keen mind,
she enjoyed bridge, crossword puzzles, reading, crafts and politics.
During her later years in Pentz, time was spent at the Bridgewater Golf
Course, the RCMP Veterans Association, as a hospital volunteer and winters
in Florida. Lou has resided for the past five years at Melville Heights
in Halifax, close to her family and many friends old and new. Surviving
are her son Mike, daughter-in-law Patty, grandson Chris, brother Murray
(Pauline) sister-in-law Mary, several nieces and nephews. She will be
greatly missed. Predeceased by her husband Norman and brothers Clyde
and Perry. Special thanks to Dr. Chris McKenna and staff of Cowie Family
Medicine Center, staff of Melville Heights and the doctors and nurses
of 3 East Camp Hill Veterans Hospital for their care and kindness. A
memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday Oct 11 in Sweeny’s
Funeral Chapel, corner of York and Phoenix Streets, Bridgewater. Reverend
Robert Zinck officiating. Interment to follow in Fort Point Cemetary,
LaHave. Memorial donations may be made to the QEII Health Sciences Center
Foundation, 1278 Tower Road, Halifax, NS B3H 9Z9.
