Leola Grace McKean

74, Pinehurst, Lunenburg County, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2006, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Lake Paul, she was a daughter of the late Fred Angus and Grace Cora (Crouse) Oickle. She was a member of New West Pine United Church, Pinehurst and former member of the Pinehurst Ladies Auxiliary; prior to retirement she was a greenhouse worker and later was employed with Family and Children Services of Lunenburg County; for past time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting afghans for gifts and enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for all occasions. Surviving are her husband, Eugene; daughters, Barbara (David) Ramey, Pinehurst; Sharon (Ivan) Veinot, Scarsdale; son, Peter (Darlene) McKean, Pinehurst; sisters, Pauline MacKay, New Germany; Mary Veinotte, Berwick; grandchildren, Corey, Lori, Heidi, Shawn, Crystal; great grandchildren, Grace, Colby, Taylor, Riley; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, James; brothers, Cecil “Bobby” Oickle; Paul Oickle. Visitation for family and friends 7 – 9 p.m. Monday, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in New West Pine United Church, Pinehurst, Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinehurst Community Cemetery.
