SINCE 1917
In Memory
A. Max Ramey
Of
Bridgewater. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Max at the Veteran’s Unit of the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital,
Lunenburg after a long trial with Alzheimers disease. Born in Bridgewater,
he was the son of the late Arthur and Violet (MacIntosh) Ramey. He was
twin brother to the late Marjorie (Bland) Ramey who passed away in 1980.
He is survived by his wife Martha (Goulden) Ramey and his only daughter
Maxine Ramey. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
After receiving his education at the Bridgewater High School and Bridgewater
Commercial School, he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and served overseas in
the Second World War with the 402 Fighter Squadron as an armourer and
gunner. Upon his return home to Bridgewater, he began working for CKBW
Radio and was chief announcer there for many years, after which he was
a sales-representative for Canada Life Assurance Company, until becoming
ill in 1996. During his lifetime he excelled in music and sports. He
was a devoted husband and father for 55 years. He trusted in God and
the Bible and was comfort to those around him. We would like to express
our sincere thanks to the dedicated nurses and support staff of the
Veteran’s Unit as well as to Dr. McAulay. The unit provided a
safe and pleasant environment for Max. His dignity throughout his illness
will forever be a beacon of strength for his family. A public Legion
Tribute service will be held 7pm Thursday in Sweeny’s Funeral
Home, Bridgewater. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia,
5954 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax, NS, B3H 1Y7 or the charity of your
choice. Online condolences may be made at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
