LaVerta Kathleen Silver

83, Hemford, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Friday, December 8, 2006, in Hemford. Born in Hemford, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Charlotte (Wile) Silver. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church, Hemford; member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 102, Ladies Auxiliary. Prior to retirement, she worked with the Canadian Coast Guard as the assistant lighthouse attendant on Welcome Island, Lake Superior, Thunder Bay, Ont. She loved every aspect of being around the water. Surviving are her daughters, Donna (Gary) Nauss, Hemford; Susan Meisner, New Germany; daughter- in- law, Debbie Silver, Hemford; son, Peter (Dianne) Silver, New Germany; sister, Evora Pico, Flin Flon, Man.; grandchildren, Heather Nauss, Scot Meisner, Shawna Meisner, Eva (Andrew) Silver, Erin Silver; great-grandchildren, Braeden Meisner and Camryn Nicholson; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond; son, D'Arcy; sisters, Ivy Silver, Jessie Turner, Jean Silver, Grace Barkhouse; brother, Harold. She will be missed by her beloved dog, Ginny. No visitation at the funeral home by request. Celebration of Life service 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, # 4895 route 10, New Germany, Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Private family burial in Hemford Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Victorian Order of Nurses, Veterans Unit of Fishermen's Memorial Hospital.
