Shirley Lynn Urback Vardy

48, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully at home after a short courageous recurrence of breast cancer on October 14, 2007. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Helen (Adams) Urbach. After surviving her first battle with Breast Cancer, she became an active member of the Bosom Buddies of Nova Scotia Breast Cancer Survivors Dragon Boat Team. Shirley was also an active member with, Bridgewater Curling Club; Thursday Women Support Group; Bridgewater United Church. She was employed with Scotia Bank for 20 years in and around the Metro Halifax area. Most recently, she was employed with the Department of Education Center as an Employer Engagement Navigator located at the ACBSE Resource Center, Bridgewater. Shirley was a dedicated mother, a fun loving sister, a caring and thoughtful friend, and was very passionate about life. She is survived by her daughter Jillian, at home; sisters, Mary Jane McDonald, Halifax; Cindy (Bob) Densmore, Sorrento, BC.; Patricia (Michael) Leonard, Halifax; nephews, Michael, Corey, Kirk, Greg; niece, Shannon. She was predeceased by her brothers, Don, Bill; sister, Susan; step mother, Kaye Greene Visitation will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. A memorial service will be held 1Pm Wednesday in the Bridgewater United Church, Rev Ivan Norton officiating. A reception will follow in the Christian Education Center at the church. Private family burial will take place in Halifax at a later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bosom Buddies Dragon Boat.
