Henry Ballantyne Severance (Baly) P .Eng.
76,
of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2008 at the South
Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Sydney, he was the son
of the late the Arthur and Sarah (MacDonald) Severance of Fourchu, Cape
Breton. Henry, a graduate of Acadia University and the Nova Scotia Technical
College, had a career with the Department of Highways of N. S. He was
well known for his long term association and involvement in the Nova
Scotia Salmon Association and the LaHave River Salmon Association preservation
of fish. He had recently received from the Lieutenant Governor an award
for “In recognition of outstanding support of wild atlantic salmon
conservation by the Nova Scotia Salmon Association and the Atlantic
Salmon Federation to Henry Severance.” Henry also volunteered
at the Bridgewater Inter Church Food Bank. He is survived by his wife,
Kathleen Gorman and granddaughter, Kate Gorman, all of Bridgewater;
son, John Severance (Paula), New Germany; daughter, Brenda Severance
(Richard MacMillan) and grandchildren, Camden and Sydney, all of Bridgewater.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral
Home, Bridgewater. A memorial service will be held 2pm Wednesday in
the Bridgewater United Church, Rev Ivan Norton officiating. Family flowers
only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nova Scotia
Salmon Association for the Adopt-A-Stream Program, P O Box 396 Chester,
NS B0J 1J0 or the Bridgewater Inter Church Food Bank. Online condolences
