Clyde Harry Smith

78, passed away on Friday, St. Clairs Hospital, St. John’s, Nld. Born April 6, 1930 in Hammonds Plains, Halifax Co., he was the son of the late Harry and Ruth (Eisenhauer) Smith. He was a 40 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 144, Western Shore. He is survived by daughter, Doris Hines, Dartmouth; son, Chris, Carbonear, Nfld; brothers, Hebert, Dutch Settlement; Fred, PEI; sisters, Grace Dooley, Halifax; Ruby LeBlanc, Nfld; Jean Richardson, Halifax; Lucy Nowe, Sackville; May Casey, Rodden; step sons, John Stevens, Marriotts Cove; Lawrence Stevens, Sydney; step daughter, Hilda Hiltz, Martins River. He was predeceased by his wife, Blanche; daughter, Debra Stevens; sister, Jessie Williams; step daughter, Florence Munroe; brothers, Granville, Max; sister in infancy. No visitation, flowers or funeral service by Clyde’s request. Burial at sea will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to IWK Children’s Hospital. Thank you to Dr. Mary O’Brien and ICU nurse Carla Kennedy for all their support during his brief illness.
