James Donald Anthony
Of
Molega Lake. It is with great sadness that the family of James “Jim” Anthony,
of Molega Lake, NS, announces his passing on May 18, 2010 at the South
Shore Regional Hospital. Jim was born December 27, 1933 to the late Hulbert
and Elizabeth “Ruth” (Redden) Anthony in Windsor, NS. Jim started his
career in the automotive field in Windsor and Halifax before turning his
hand to teaching at the Nova Scotia Community College. He was a passionate
believer in continuing education and completed his B.Ed. (Dalhousie University)
and M.S. (Nova University) later in life. He subsequently served as vice-principal
and area director in the Nova Scotia Community College system. He also
had a keen entrepreneurial spirit, and was involved in a number of business
activities, including real estate, throughout Nova Scotia. Jim believed
in giving back to the community and was active in a number of volunteer
organizations. Amongst others, he served as president of the Windsor Jaycees,
as secretary of the Atlantic Region Jaycees, and as a senator, for the
Junior Chamber International. He was a founding member and past-president
of the Kiwanis Club of Bridgewater and also served as lieutenant governor
of the Eastern Canada and Caribbean Kiwanis. He is survived by his daughter,
Barbara (Brian) Trenholm, of Fredericton, NB; son Doug (Cindy) Anthony
and granddaughter Kailynn, of Russell, ON; son Ken (Bev) Anthony and grandsons
Andrew and Michael, of Hubley, NS; brother Hulbert (Joyce) Anthony, of
Middleton, NS; two aunts, Belle Chambers and Muriel Ward, and one uncle,
Clyde Anthony, all of Windsor, NS; and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces
and -nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents, sister Catherine Farquhar,
brothers Ronald and Robert Anthony, and nephew David Anthony. Final arrangements
have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where cremation
has taken place. You are invited to join the family at a Celebration of
His Life ceremony to take place at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 60 Phoenix Street,
Bridgewater on Monday, May 24 at 11 am. Online condolences and memories
