Roger Delbert Robar
71,
loving husband and father, passed away early morning on December 30, 2010,
while in intensive care with family by his side. He was born in Bridgewater,
NS in the old Dawson Memorial Hospital on December 28, 1939. He was the
eldest son of Marjorie Robar (Mailman) of Chelsea and the late Delbert
Robar. He is survived by wife, Heather (Veinotte) of Chelsea, daughters
Amanda (Ian) of Bridgewater and Ashley of St. John’s, NL, brothers Charles
(Yvonne), Garry, Jeffery (Krista) and sisters Gloria (Byron) Winters,
Linda (Rodger) Demond, Heather (Wayne) Weagle, and Patricia (Warren) Sarty.
Also surviving are his mother-in-law Viola Veinotte (Tanner) of Clearland,
several brothers and sisters-in-laws, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Pre-deceased by his brother Gerald. He was heavily involved in the Chelsea
United Baptist Church attending services, prayer meetings, and bible studies
weekly. He also once held the positions of Superintendent and teacher.
Roger attended the Chelsea one room school house, receiving his grade
10, and furthering his education at New Germany Rural High School where
he graduated in 1958. He went on to graduate from Truro Normal Collage
in 1960, receiving a Class 2 teaching license. He did teach for awhile,
but soon realized it was not suited for him. Roger did enjoy travelling,
telling stories of his trips to Expo 67 in Montreal, QC, and England in
1976. Over his years, he worked for several grocery chains, including
Loblaws in Brampton, ON. From 1976-1993 he was employed by National Sea
Products, Lunenburg, NS, where he met his charming chick-a-dee (Heather)
whom he married in 1981. The following year they moved into their Chelsea
home, raising two beautiful daughters. He will be greatly missed by everyone
who had the pleasure of knowing him, including his four kitties (Tiger,
MissT, Cheech and Chong). Roger had the special gift of touching the hearts
of everyone he met. Unfortunately, Roger battled with Bipolar Disorder
for many long hard years. May he rest in peace now. Visitation will be
held on Sunday January 2, 2011, from 2-4pm. The funeral will be held at
11:00am on Monday January 3rd, 2011 at the Chelsea United Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at the Chelsea Maple Grove Cemetery. Donations in his
name may be made to the Chelsea United Baptist Church to fulfill Roger’s
wish of supplying seat cushions for all pews. Online condolences may be
